AMANDA BANKS

Director External Relations/Statesmen Academy

Amanda Banks is director of external relations at Family Policy Alliance (FPA) and director of the Statesmen Academy at Family Policy Foundation. In her external relations role, Banks builds and strengthens alliances between FPA and like-minded organizations as well as unlikely partners, helping to advance FPA’s major policy goals. At the Statesmen Academy, Banks leads the annual training event and the corresponding alumni community to equip pro-family Christian legislators for effective, impactful public service.

Banks was elected to serve a single session in the Indiana State Senate in 2015, during which she was honored by the American Legion for her work on behalf of Hoosier veterans and by Allen County Right to Life for her efforts to defend human life. Then-Governor Mike Pence later bestowed Amanda with the state’s highest honor – the Sagamore of the Wabash.

A public affairs graduate of Indiana University, Banks began her career at Focus on the Family as federal policy analyst. There she advocated for pro-family policies, acted as a media spokesperson, and prepared Dr. James Dobson for radio broadcasts and media interviews. Banks went on to work in public relations at the American Red Cross and Grace College & Seminary.

Amanda is most proud of her work raising three daughters, Lillian, Elizabeth, and Annie, with her husband, Rep. Jim Banks (IN-03).
