Welcome to Family Policy Alliance of Idaho!
We’re a public policy partner of Focus on the Family. And we’re part of a vibrant national alliance of pro-family state groups. As a Christ-centered organization, our vision is a nation where God is honored, religious freedom flourishes, families thrive and life is cherished.
- We believe God’s timeless design for the family is the strongest foundation for a free society. We equip and motivate Idahoans to cast their ballots and raise their voices in support of pro-family candidates and policies.
- We believe human life is sacred. We’re all created in the image of God, so we respect and protect life, including preborn babies, the elderly and every other condition of the human experience through natural death.
- We believe the Founding Fathers got it right when they guaranteed the “free exercise of religion.” We protect the freedom of individuals, churches and businesses to speak and act according to their faith.

Director of Advocacy
Working For You
John Paulton is the Director of Advocacy for Family Policy Alliance of Idaho.
Mr. Paulton understands the unique needs and challenges of state legislators, as for nearly 30 years he has worked closely with them, directing lobbying and election work in dozens of states. And since 2001, when he joined Focus on the Family/Family Policy Alliance, he has worked in tandem with countless legislators in establishing and equipping state family policy councils around the country.
Prior to joining Focus in early 2001, John served as Executive Director of the South Dakota Family Policy Council (SDFPC) for eight years. Under his direction, the SDFPC enjoyed particular success in the legislative arena, passing several pro-family measures that were among the first of their type in the nation. For this work, he was honored by the Family Research Council with their Faith, Family & Freedom Award. His work has been referenced in many publications, including USA Today and The Christian Science Monitor.
Prior to working with SDFPC, Mr. Paulton was a lobbyist and campaign consultant for five years, managing legislative and political campaigns in several states. John received his B.A. in History from San Diego Christian College in San Diego, CA. He and his wife, Sandy, have three children.
