Family Policy Alliance of New Mexico Releases Statement
Following House Tabling of Assisted Suicide Legislation

SANTA FE – Last night, House Bill 90, which would have legalized assisted suicide in New Mexico, was tabled in the New Mexico House of Representatives. Representative Deborah Armstrong (D-Bernalillo), the bill’s sponsor, cited a lack of support to pass the bill as the reason for the tabling.

In response to this action, Vince Torres, President and Executive Director of Family Policy Alliance of New Mexico, released the following statement:

“We want to thank House Democrats and Republicans for coming together to oppose this dangerous legislation. Assisted suicide is clearly not a partisan issue and we are proud that legislators on both sides of the aisle recognize that when it comes to the end of life, we can do better than abandoning vulnerable New Mexicans to a hopeless death. Instead, we should be working together to find solutions that bring genuine compassion and care to those who need it most. Every life is worth fighting for.”
