When the Rainbow Flag Flies in Our Schools

Most of the emails I send you tend to be about a relevant political issue – a call to action in the realm of politics and policy here in Georgia.

But, Family Policy Alliance of Georgia is about much more than politics and policy. Our vision is to impact culture, to equip the remnant, and to empower the church. Last week, I asked you if your pastor preached about Charlottesville. I hope that at least prompted some biblical conversations in our churches. But, are our churches regularly tackling the issues Christian families encounter?

Are you and your church prepared to equip your child, grandchild or young member of your church for a godly response to the rainbow flag of the LGBT community flying in their classroom?

Think that’s an irrelevant question? Consider Auburn High School in Alabama. A highly regarded school in academics and athletics situated in a conservative community in the reddest of red states. The school currently has a controversy swirling around one of its teachers who is adamant about flying the rainbow flag in the classroom.

We’ve all heard the data. Three out of four Christian kids leave the faith upon leaving home. It’s a jaw-dropping number. However, it’s not surprising given the fact that so few kids are prepared to encounter a world that hates them for their faith. When they are called foolish, bigoted, hateful and are ostracized for adherence to a Gospel they can’t defend or articulate, many young believers fold and walk away.

We must do more to empower Christians to engage, lovingly oppose, and, ultimately effect change in our culture.

Family Policy Alliance of Georgia is a growing organization. We are committed to providing more resources and tools for pastors and church leaders as we seek meaningful cultural transformation for Christian families. Yes, electing godly leaders is an important element of that. Yes, so is advocating for pro-family policy. But, there is much more to what we do.

That’s why we have an educational arm aimed at equipping the church, Christian businesses and families. Can we count on you to make a tax-deductible gift to this effort today? Your support will help us do more to impact culture, empower the church, and prepare our children to face the world – including their classrooms.

Over the coming months, I will be providing you with in-depth information about our plans for the Legislature and for the 2018 election cycle. What cannot be lost among our efforts, though, is a real and genuine push to fuel Christian families to be the salt and light in the world in all walks of life.

In His Service,

Cole Muzio
