Getting to Know Your Legislators

February 1

Dear Friends,

While we are experiencing record low temperatures outside, inside the Capitol things are heating up. Committees are beginning to talk about substantial issues, and we are nearing the deadline for bills to be introduced.

This week our team had an opportunity to interact with your legislators at the state capitol. Several members of our state and national team were present to talk with legislators and share our goals for this upcoming legislative session.

Our CEO & President Paul Weber shared with the legislators present our vision for Family Policy Alliance of Kansas®, engaging churches, the business community, and legislators in order to advance a Kansas where God is honored, religious liberty flourishes, life is cherished, and families thrive.

He also shared that one way we engage legislators is through Statesmen Academy™. This is a one-week conference held each summer that equips and trains new and rising legislators how to think biblically about government, how to maintain their faith in public service, and how to handle difficult social issues in the legislature.

At our gathering, Statesmen alumni and freshman representative, Renee Erickson shared about her experience at Statesmen Academy. She spoke about the unique bond between each of the participants and the encouragement she received as she prepared to enter the Kansas House of Representatives.

If you would like to support our efforts legislatively or our efforts to train and equip legislators and pastors, there are two ways you can give:

  • Give a gift to support efforts to advance pro-family policies in the legislature.
  • Give a tax-deductible gift to help train and equip Christian lawmakers, churches and families to advance the cause of life.
