Family Policy Alliance of Georgia Makes Ed Setzler 1st Endorsement of 2020 Cycle
I’ve often written about statesmanship and my hopes for how it can transform Georgia. I believe so strongly that statesmanship can change our state because I’ve seen firsthand what a statesman – a real, authentic, do-the-right-thing-no-matter-what statesman – can achieve. I’ve seen it because I’ve seen Representative Ed Setzler in action.
That’s why I am humbled to make Ed Setzler our first endorsement of this pivotal 2020 election cycle.
My friend Ed Setzler is more than a legislator. He’s a student – eager to learn and craving more information on subject matters that impact Georgians. He’s a friend – a compassionate and thoughtful colleague to every member of the General Assembly, even those who despise him for his beliefs. He’s a steward – of the people’s trust who shows up early, leaves late, works tirelessly, and serves with integrity. He’s a champion – for the voiceless, for those who are struggling, and for those who cannot afford a lobbyist. And, he’s a leader – someone whose opinion is carefully cultivated, whose words are measured and influential, and who is a force for good who rallies others behind a cause.
Ed Setzler is a statesman of the highest order, and his impact at the Capitol is beyond measure. He fearlessly proclaims what he knows to be right, and he joyfully serves those he represents. Georgia is a better place because of his dedication and leadership, and I look forward to doing all I can to re-elect this champion for every, single Georgian.
But, sadly, we can count on radical ideologues from the California and New York working tirelessly in opposition.
You see, Ed Setzler has struck a nerve with this fringe liberal element because he’s given voice to what common sense has increasingly made apparent to our culture: that all life is precious, all life is valuable, and that those with a heartbeat are alive and worthy of protection.
One of the great honors of my life is spending the last 2 years talking with, planning with, and praying with men like Ed Setzler and Brian Kemp in the fight for the most vulnerable among us. Ed’s commitment to stop the arcane, barbaric, and absurd-on-its-face notion that it is acceptable to kill people whose hearts remain beating simply because they are small has been a source of great inspiration to many throughout Georgia and across the nation. Quite frankly, his articulation of the value of a human being, the manner in which he fought for this most basic civil right, and the humility in which he has conducted himself makes him, in my opinion, this generation’s Wilberforce – a champion who has lit a flame that will never be put out.
As we roll out endorsements throughout this cycle, I won’t be sending them all statewide. But, this is one that, while covering just 1 of 180 House districts, needs to be lifted up in every household of faith across Georgia. Ed has been and will be attacked, maligned, and targeted for his bold stance for LIFE and his career-long commitment to family and freedom. If the pro-family community sits back, raises a glass to Setzler, pats him on the back, and then does nothing to help him in the face of opposition, it will be an appalling witness.
I’m asking you – regardless of where you live – to engage with us in this race. Together, we must pray and fight for a man I’m humbled to call a friend and proud to say is the epitome of a statesman: Representative Ed Setzler.
