Since We’re All Talking About Mortality Rates Now

The daily grim updates of COVID-19 death statistics and new cases from Governor Murphy has become a midday routine. Regional news networks cutaway from their regular programming and social media pages are inundated with live comments from those watching online. Positive signs of slower infection rates and declining new hospitalizations are briefly mentioned, as the narrative must continue to reinforce a perpetual lockdown.

Tragically, there are real people, real stories, and real pain for tens of thousands of New Jersey families who have suffered the loss of a loved one due to the novel coronavirus. Governor Murphy shares some of these personal stories at his daily briefing, as he routinely talks about these “precious souls”. Yet, there is a deafening silence about the innocent lives lost at the hands of the abortion industry that he has considered essential during this pandemic.

As of yesterday, April 29th, NJ had 6,770 deaths linked to COVID-19, but this heartbreaking number is outdone by the 48,000 lives lost through abortion each year in our state.

Equally troubling is the fact that not only does NJ rank #2 in the total number of COVID-19 cases and deaths nationwide, but we bear the shame of ranking #2 for the percentage of pregnancies nationwide that end in abortion – 28%! Yes, over 1 in 4 pregnancies in NJ are aborted. That exceeds the mortality rate of the 1918 Spanish flu, COVID-19, the Swine flu, the Hong Kong flu and the H1N1 virus combined!

What can you do?

  1. Join devoted prayer warriors for our pro-life coalition’s monthly day of prayer and fasting for the unborn on Friday, May 1. We are praying for the passage of the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and the Born Alive Infant Protection Act.
  2. Call Governor Phil Murphy’s office at 1-609-292-6000 and request that he protects the “precious souls” of preborn babies by closing abortion clinics during this mandatory state lockdown.
  3. Offer encouragement to mothers and fathers experiencing an unwanted or unexpected pregnancy by directing them to a life affirming women’s center in your area.

Please let me know you made the call or if you were able to dedicate a time of prayer and fasting to save preborn babies in NJ. You can contact me at newjersey@familypolicyalliance.com.
