Kansas becomes the fifth legislature to pass Fairness in Women’s Sports

Moving the Ball forward for women and unleashing girls’ potential on our state!

(Topeka, Kans. – April 9, 2021) – This morning, the Kansas legislature became the fifth state where the legislature has ensured that girls opportunities in sports will be protected through the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act. The Senate passed the bill 26-11. The Governor should sign this bill into law and ensure that women’s opportunities do not evaporate.

Statement from Brittany Jones, Director of Advocacy, Family Policy Alliance of Kansas:

“The longstanding legal understanding of Title IX and sex discrimination require that we protect Kansas girls from attacks from administrations and sports associations who do not have girls’ best interest at heart. We should not allow a price tag to be put on our daughters and granddaughters’ opportunities. Instead, we should unleash our girl’s potential by fighting for their place in sports. This is good for our economy and for our state. If the Governor believes in equal rights for women and for the opportunities for women in our state, it is imperative that she signs this bill into law swiftly.”
