Bismarck—Today, Governor Burgum signed into law HB 1546, a bill that bans dismemberment abortions in North Dakota.

The legislation, supported by Family Policy Alliance of North Dakota, makes it illegal to perform a dismemberment abortion on a living preborn child. This type of abortion procedure is gruesome and tears the baby apart while it is alive and can feel pain. Dismemberment of any living human is barbaric and inhumane, and we are overjoyed that the North Dakota Legislature and Governor Burgum again took a courageous stand to cherish life in all its forms.

“We want to thank Governor Burgum for signing the abortion dismemberment ban into law. His defense of living preborn babies from being brutally dismembered shows the kind of compassion and protection of life that we as North Dakotans most value. Family Policy Alliance of North Dakota is proud to stand with him on this critical legislation.”  – Mark Jorritsma, President and Executive Director, Family Policy Alliance of North Dakota.
