It is Not in Numbers, but in Unity, that our Great Strength Lies

That is a quote from Thomas Paine. He was trying to assure colonists that they had the ability to fight for freedom against Great Britain, despite overwhelming odds. We know how that story ended, and I’m here to tell you that by Christian unity of purpose, we have the strength to overcome what sometimes appear to be overwhelming odds.

This week I am in DC. We are having our annual conference of state Family Policy Councils (FPCs) and affiliates from across the nation – over 40 in total – of which we are a part. I am so excited to be here, reconnecting and exchanging ideas with my colleagues from across our country. One particular benefit we receive by connecting with other state directors is sharing best practices. They have often faced some of the same challenges we face in North Dakota and can provide guidance on how to best integrate faith into our respective state political processes.

We clearly operate in very different contexts. The California FPC faces very different challenges than the one in Georgia, in Texas, or us here at Family Policy Alliance of North Dakota. However, we are unified in purpose: to advance the kingdom of God through the political process.

Each FPC values families and wants to ensure that pro-family and pro-life legislation is passed, as we do in North Dakota. We all want to further engage businesses, churches and individuals to become involved in the political process. We all share the passion to make our states ones where God is honored, religious freedom flourishes, families thrive, and life is cherished. What an inspirational tie that binds us!

The one thing we definitely agree on is that we can’t do our work without the help of our state ministry partners, such as yourself. If you want to help us advance our pro-family and pro-life values in North Dakota, I encourage you to become a ministry partner. There are many ways to do this. It may mean responding to our action alerts, praying for our ministry, or helping financially support our work. For all the great ideas and help I receive from our brothers and sisters in other states, your backing enables us to actually fight the good fight right here in North Dakota. Thank you for your continued support as we advance our Christian values in the state Capitol in Bismarck and throughout North Dakota!

Sincerely,

Mark Jorritsma
