NJ’s abortion expansion must be stopped

July 14

You lived to see the moment! I told people for years that we would see it in our lifetime, but I am not sure how many believed me.  The good news was handed down on June 24, 2022. The mighty ROE has fallen! And Life will never be the same again.

The pro-life movement spent decades working, praying, and advocating for the least among us. The overturning of ROE was step one. Now the work begins in states across America.

  • In New Jersey, Governor Murphy signed into law the Reproductive Choice Act on January 13, 2022, in anticipation of the Supreme Court’s ruling. This codified into state law the ability to abort the life of a child up to the moment of birth.
  • Tragically, not satisfied with this extreme law, on May 13, 2022, he reintroduced his failed demands from the original Reproductive Freedom Act. He is insisting on abortion expansion in our state by creating the Reproductive Access fund to cover abortions – even for out-of-state residents! This includes an additional $20 million dollars of your tax money allocated each year to the termination of innocent preborn life.
  • Immediately following the overturning of ROE, Governor Murphy and pro-abortion legislators quickly scheduled legislation to make New Jersey an abortion destination. These bills were signed into law by Governor Murphy on Friday, July 1, 2022. This will protect doctors from any liability if they perform an abortion on a resident from another state where abortion is illegal.

We are now working with our pro-life coalition and state legislators to stop Governor Murphy’s agenda to pay for abortions on demand and up to birth by your tax dollars and your insurance premiums.

A future action alert will be coming your way soon. Currently, the legislature is on a summer recess. There are no scheduled committees or legislative activities. Please pray that behind-the-scenes political deals and pressure from party leaders will not influence legislators to support this radical expansion of New Jersey’s horrendous abortion laws.

The infamous Reproductive Choice Act barely passed by two votes in the State Senate in January of this year. Two of the senators who voted in favor of that bill – Senators Sweeney (D) and Addiego (D), were defeated in their election last fall. However, Christopher Bateman (R) voted against the bill, but did not seek re-election. His replacement, Senator Andrew Zwicker, is a pro-abortion extremist.

In the final analysis, any vote to create a taxpayer fund worth hundreds of millions of dollars over the next decade to pay for abortions for people who do not even live in NJ will be decided by 1-2 votes in the State Senate. It is possible to stop this!

Fighting for your family,

Len Deo
