BREAKING: Kansas becomes the First State where both Chambers have Condemned the Horrific New York Abortion Law

Topeka—Today, the Kansas House passed a resolution condemning New York’s Reproductive Health Act passed on January 22nd that allows some abortions up to the moment of birth—and even strips infants born alive after a botched abortion of a right to basic medical care. Now both chambers of the Kansas’ legislature have passed this resolution, and copies will be sent to the New York legislature. Kansas is the first state in the nation to take such action with several other states following suit.

The resolution affirms that the people of Kansas seek to protect all life from the moment of conception. It further condemns the state of New York for coopting the Freedom Towers, a national symbol of Freedom, in its celebration of death—even as the preborn lives who died in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks are honored beneath the Tower on the September 11th Memorial.

A Statement from Brittany Jones, Esq., Advocacy Director for Family Policy Alliance of Kansas:

“Kansas is one of the most pro-life states in the country. The New York abortion law is a horrific reflection on the state and its values. The New York law does not reflect the values of Kansans. Even as several more states consider following New York’s lead, Kansas is proud to be a state that cherishes life and provides some of the strongest pro-life protections in the county.

“We thank the leadership in the Kansas’ House and Senate and all who sponsored this resolution for boldly standing for life. We specifically thank Representative Renee Erickson and Senator Mary Pilcher-Cook for carrying this resolution. Family Policy Alliance of Kansas and the pro-life Kansas House will continue to advance a Kansas where life is cherished at all stages and where Kansas women are provided the strongest protections—not abortion providers.”
