Into the Unknown

The Christmas season is officially over and here we are in 2019. The North Dakota legislative session kicked off today with 240 bills prefiled so far, but there are hundreds more coming over the next few weeks. They will address topics ranging from the all-important state appropriations to law enforcement, education, lobbying activities, the sanctity of life, and family-focused issues. It can seem a bit overwhelming and I have a great respect for our state’s legislators who work diligently to make sure they understand each bill and make informed decisions on each one.

Legislative bills are forward-looking – they are meant to shape a North Dakota for years into the future. The challenge is shaping that future in a way that makes our state and its residents better off and not worse off. It means tackling the unknown.

Corrie Ten Boom once said, “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.” Think about that for a moment. She lived under the dark cloud of Nazi-occupied Holland and her immediate future was often “die or not die”, particularly when she was a prisoner at Ravensbrück concentration camp. With all this, if she could boldly proclaim these words, how much more can you and I trust our unknown future to a known God?

There will be challenges protecting and advancing pro-life and pro-family values this legislative session, as there are every session, but Family Policy Alliance of North Dakota will be there representing your biblical views. I want to thank you in advance for your prayers, responses to our Action Alerts, and your financial support.

On the financial side, it will cost Family Policy Alliance of North Dakota over $85,000 to prepare and fight for your biblical values this legislative session. If you want to help underwrite this effort, you can always contribute through our webpage. Your financial support is greatly appreciated.

Let’s not fear the future, fellow Christians. We have a God who is mighty and knows the future. We may have successes and setbacks along the way, but our strength lies in Him who only seeks the good for us. Blessings in 2019, my friends, and may God richly bless you and the work we undertake together to advance His kingdom!

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails. Proverbs 19:21
