U.S. House Passes Radical Abortion Bill

Family Policy Alliance responds as 218 House Democrats vote for a bill that would allow abortion on demand

WASHINGTON – This afternoon, 218 Democratic members of Congress voted to pass the most radical abortion bill ever to reach the House floor.

The bill not only allows abortion on demand, but explicitly supports sex-selective abortions, removes safety protections for mothers, and refuses to use the term “mother.”

One Democrat, Rep. Henry Cuellar (TX-28) voted with the Republicans. No Republicans voted in favor of the bill.

Family Policy Alliance responded to the news with the following statement from Meridian Baldacci, Policy and Communications Strategist:

“Today, 218 Democrats showed their true colors. These lawmakers shamelessly went on record that they support abortion anytime, anywhere, for any reason. They have shown a brazen willingness to endanger women, from the littlest girl in the womb to the mother who carries her.

“Today, each of these members showed themselves willing to die on the hill of abortion. If even a few of these lawmakers had chosen not to vote for this radical bill, the bill would not have passed. That level of commitment to abortion should alarm constituents around the country.

“In a day when 65% of Americans believe abortion should usually be illegal in the second trimester, House Democrats have moved in the opposite direction and ignored the conscience of the American public. By voting for this bill today, some members have given up their seats for 2022. An increasingly pro-life America will make sure of that.”
