Family Policy Alliance of North Dakota Responds to Gov. Burgum Signing Abortion Reversal Notification

Bismarck—Today, Governor Burgum signed into law HB 1336, a bill that strengthens North Dakota’s abortion informed consent laws so that women have access to information that a chemical abortion may be reversible if they change their mind.

The legislation, supported by Family Policy Alliance of North Dakota, passed easily through the legislature. The bill underscores the need for women to have access to all relevant information when making important healthcare decisions. Governor Burgum signed HB 1336 into law, agreeing that “[i]f it gives hope to even one person who has started the process and wants to try to reverse it, it is worth providing that information.”

A Statement from Mark Jorritsma, President of Family Policy Alliance of North Dakota:

“All women deserve the highest standards of care and access to information. Women seeking an abortion should not be treated differently from other pregnant women when it comes to what medical information they have access to. We are thankful to the Legislature and to Governor Burgum for signing this critical bill into law.”
