Congressional Members Initiate Full-Court Press to Save Girls’ Sports

Republican Study Committee Members filed a discharge petition for H.R. 426

WASHINGTON, DC– Last night, Republican Study Committee Chairman Jim Banks, (IN-3) filed a discharge petition for H.R. 426 by Rep. Greg Steube (FL-17), the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act.

Nicole Hudgens, Government Affairs for Family Policy Alliance, issued this statement in support of the discharge petition:

“The future of America’s women and girls is on the line. If members of Congress truly support fair opportunities for women, they will not hesitate to sign the discharge petition for H.R. 426. While the Biden Administration is aggressively attempting to sideline our girls, America is fighting back. 15 states have passed Save Girls Sports bills, and this discharge petition is an important step to a future national victory. We applaud Chairman Banks and the Republican Study Committee for initiating a full-court press to ensure fair play for women and girls across the nation.”

America agrees with saving girls’ sports. Despite efforts from the Biden Administration and the NCAA, 15 states now have laws that protect girls’ sports, and polling consistently shows Americans believe girls should have their own sports.

Nancy Pelosi has stopped H.R. 426, a pro-women’s bill, from moving forward in the U.S. House of Representatives. If the discharge petition receives 218 signatures, H.R. 426 will receive a vote on the House Floor.
