SCOTT JONES
Scott was born and raised in Little Rock, AR. Following graduation from Hall Senior High, Scott accepted an appointment to the United States Coast Guard Academy. While a cadet, Scott met Patti McCann. They were married a year after his graduation from USCGA. Scott and Patti have two grown children, Austin and Lauren, who both live in the DFW Metroplex. They also have four grandchildren. Scott and Patti currently live in McKinney, TX.
Scott graduated from USCGA with a BS degree and was commissioned in the United States Coast Guard. After four years afloat, including command of an 82’ patrol boat, Scott was assigned to the University of Maryland, where he earned an MS in chemical engineering. He spent the rest of his USCG career as a hazardous material specialist in marine safety and port security – mainly on the Texas Gulf Coast. Scott retired in 1992 with the rank of Commander and relocated with his family to DFW. Since retirement Scott has had a variety of executive positions with various companies in DFW. In 2017 he retired from Elbit Systems of America in Fort Worth, where he was Director of Quality Management for 7 years and Senior Director of Internal Audit (Chief Audit Executive) for 8 years. While at Elbit Systems of America, Scott earned an MS in Accounting from the University of Texas at Dallas. ESA is the US subsidiary of Elbit Systems LTD in Haifa Israel. While at ESA, Scott made 9 trips to Israel. Scott continued to perform part time contract work for ESA and Elbit through his small consulting business, Key Performance Initiatives, Inc. until 2022.
Scott and Patti accepted Christ as their Savior in 1985 at Cypress Bible Church outside Houston. They attended a variety of churches due to military transfers. Scott and Patti were members of Watermark Community Church from 2009 through 2022. In 2014 they were among the group of lead couples that started Watermark’s Plano Campus (now CityBridge Community Church). Scott has served in several ministries at Watermark: Frontlines, Summit Men’s Ministry, Legacy, Community Shepherd, and the Political Engagement Team, which he helped launch in 2020. Scott has also authored devotionals for Join the Journey, Watermark’s online Bible study. Scott and Patti have been members of Lighthouse Community Church in Prosper, TX since February 2023.
Scott and Patti also are the founders of Pray Stand Act. Since 2013 Pray Stand Act has been equipping followers of Jesus Christ to engage effectively in the civil society. They have delivered training and provided information, focusing on the DFW Metroplex. Scott is the author of a series of blog posts on Christian involvement in politics and the civil society on the Pray Stand Act and Christians Engaged web sites. Scott Joined Christians Engaged at its founding in 2020 as Area Leader for Collin County, TX and as a member of the board of directors. In 2021 Scott became interim Vice President and remained in that role until the Fall of 2024. Scott is currently Chairman of the Christians Engaged Board of Directors. Scott coauthored the Christians Engage booklets PRAY, VOTE, and ENGAGE with Bunni Pounds. Scott has spoken at numerous events on behalf of Christians Engaged and is both coauthor and a teacher for the Salt and Light course.
Scott’s first taste of political activity was in 1962 when his father ran for the U.S. Senate against William Fulbright. Although his military career limited his political involvement, Scott and Patti became politically involved after the 2008 election. Initially they were active in the local DFW Tea Parties, founding the Sachse Tea Party in 2010. Scott has also been active in the Republican Party of Texas, serving as a delegate to precinct, senate district, and state conventions. In 2016 Scott chaired the SD8/Dallas County Resolutions Committee. Scott has also served as an Elections Judge in numerous primary and general elections. Scott has worked in several political campaigns, most notably the 2014 Katrina Pierson primary campaign for CD32.
