Bruno isn’t the only thing Disney wants to keep in the shadows.
Bruno, from Disney’s Encanto, inspired the rhythmically genius hit “we don’t talk about Bruno-no-no-no” that’s guaranteed to get stuck in your head at all hours.
Bruno’s “taboo” in the film, but the latest showdown between Disney and Florida’s Governor DeSantis reveals Disney is also keen on keeping parents in the dark about their own children.
A bill being considered in Florida gives parents the right to transparency into their children’s curriculum, to know about their children’s health and well-being, and to make decisions related to their health and education. Importantly, it also protects very young children—grade three and younger—from being exposed to instruction about sexual partners and preferences, and that they might be “born in the wrong body.”
Governor DeSantis supports the bill in question, HB 1557, and says he won’t be backing down because Florida families are more important than the attempted “wokeness” of any corporation.
While Disney’s CEO originally tried to stay out of politics, he caved to pressure from the nation’s largest LGBT lobbying group and stated that he opposes the bill.
In other words, the CEO of an empire that made its fortune catering to America’s parents and their children believes parents should not know what’s going on with their children at school—and that children under age 8 should receive sexualized instruction at school. Not even a spoonful of sugar can make this better for families.
It would be almost laughable if these ideas weren’t so dangerous to families—and especially children. Children need their parents to be their greatest protectors and advocates. And, that’s especially the case when children’s lives and bodies are being destroyed every day by harmful gender ideology.
Despite the fact that Disney has been dealing with major problems with the sexual behavior of its own employees—including the intended sexual exploitation of a minor and human trafficking just this month—their CEO hinted that the company may oppose parental rights protections like those in Florida’s bill in other states. Even today, Disney employees are reportedly staging a “walkout” to pressure the CEO and corporate leadership to do more in protest of the Florida bill and to use Disney’s resources to advocate for the LGBT political agenda.
That’s why we need your help now! Please join our OPEN LETTER TO DISNEY urging Disney to “let it go”—parents and their children are more important than woke political maneuvers.Just like Bruno needed to be talked about and brought back into the light, parents need to know what’s going on with their children and should not be kept in the dark.
DeSantis is right—parents should know-know-know-know.
For parents and their children,
