Christians should vote whenever given the opportunity to do so. The birthright of our nation was founded on the idea that there are certain freedoms and liberties inherent to living in the U.S., and along with that come certain responsibilities.Â
One of those is exercising our right to vote.Â
The problem is that by most accounts, only one in three Christians consistently votes.
The excuses are many:
- I forgot/did not know about the election.Â
- I was out of town.Â
- My vote does not matter.Â
- I did not know whom to vote for.Â
- It was just a primary election — I will vote next time.Â
- It’s only local elections — they don’t matter.Â
These are just a few of the excuses often given.Â
The nation is focused on national elections this year, but elections happen every year. Those “other” elections are in no way less important than national elections but often they go unnoticed, or we learn of them only after the results are in and we have missed our opportunity to participate.Â
What if there were a way to never miss an election again and to remember to vote in every election… every year? Â
Last week we announced that Family Policy Alliance had merged with Christians Engaged. (You can read more about that here.) As part of that merger, we now have an easy, direct way to ensure that any Christian voter never misses an election again.Â
Christians Engaged and Family policy Alliance are on a massive campaign to increase Christian voter participation — not just this year, but every year. As part of that effort, we are asking Christians to sign a pledge to Pray, Vote, and Engage.
Here is the exciting part:Â Â
When you take the pledge, you will get friendly text reminders about elections in your area, tailored just for your state, but only at key times in advance of elections. They keep you on track to remember to vote on election day or to request an absentee ballot if you need one.Â
Can you imagine what could happen if millions of Christians remembered to vote on election day… every election day?Â
Take the Christians Engaged pledge today. It is as simple as acting on any of our other alerts and ensures you will be informed when elections occur in your area.Â
It is free, convenient, only takes a few moments, and makes remembering to vote so much easier. Â
Please join me in taking the pledge today.Â
God bless,

P.S. This is an excellent tool to make sure your Sunday School class or your entire church is engaged and ready to vote in every election — please share it widely.
