The battle for families continues—Discover the latest

October 8, 2025

Dear friends,

This week brings new challenges in protecting children and families, from the Supreme Court to California’s latest abortion expansion. Yet we also see strong action advancing our core conviction that parents have the right and responsibility to direct their children’s upbringing.

Supreme Court hears challenge to Colorado’s ‘conversion therapy’ laws

The U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments Tuesday in a pivotal free speech and religious liberty case that could determine the future of mental healthcare and counseling freedom across America. The case, Chiles v. Salazar, challenges Colorado’s so-called “conversion therapy” ban, a law that restricts licensed counselors from offering talk therapy consistent with their clients’ faith or biological reality. The law muzzles mental healthcare professionals by preventing them from using talk therapy to help a child patient become comfortable in his or her biological sex, even if that is what the patient wants.

Family Policy Alliance joined an amicus brief in support of Kaley Chiles, underscoring the organization’s Help Not Harm campaign goal: ensuring individuals struggling with gender identity disorder can access the help and counseling they need without government interference.

This case isn’t about politics. It’s about protecting the right to seek and provide help consistent with faith and truth. The government has no business choosing healthcare outcomes, and censorship has no place in the counseling room.

California Legislature Approves AB 495

California lawmakers have passed AB 495, sending it to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s desk despite strong opposition from faith and family advocates. The bill further undermines parental rights by enabling any adult to effectively kidnap any child, and broadening abortion and gender ideology access for minors without parental consent.

Family Policy Alliance stands firmly opposed to this law and calls on Gov. Newsom to veto the measure, affirming that parents, not the state, are best equipped to guide their children’s health and moral development. Find out more from our partners at California Family Council.

Roblox Sides with Child Predators

Reports from our friends at Exodus Cry reveal that the popular online gaming platform Roblox continues to enable predators who exploit children through its chat and avatar systems. Instead of enforcing stronger protections, the company has ignored mounting evidence of grooming and trafficking.

This growing crisis underscores the urgent need for reforms that protect kids online, one of the central goals of our Let Parents Parent campaign.

Your faithful partnership ensures that when issues like those at the Supreme Court or in California arise, there is a strong voice standing for biblical truth. Thank you for your faithfulness as we work together for a nation where God is honored, religious freedom flourishes, families thrive, and life is cherished.

For the family,
