Inside the Supreme Court Case on Colorado’s Counseling Ban, with Joseph Kohm

October 16, 2025

What happened at the U.S. Supreme Court on October 7 could reshape the future of free speech, religious liberty, and counseling for children struggling with gender identity.

The case is Chiles v. Salazar, a direct challenge to Colorado’s law that bans licensed counselors from helping minors accept their biological sex, even when that’s what the child and family want. In other words, the state is trying to control what counselors are allowed to say.

Joseph Kohm, our vice president of public policy, was in Washington, D.C., during the oral arguments and witnessed the events unfold. In this episode of The SoCon Report, he joins Craig as they break down:

  • The shocking claims made by Colorado’s Solicitor General in defense of the law
  • How Justice Samuel Alito compared the state’s argument to America’s dark history.
  • What this case means for parents, counselors and churches

This is more than a courtroom battle; it is about who has the right to speak the truth and help hurting children: families or the government.

Watch the new episode now and share it with friends, pastors, and anyone who cares about protecting kids and preserving freedom. Thank you for helping us make our nation one in which God is honored, religious freedom flourishes, families thrive and life is cherished.
