Your voice makes a difference. At Family Policy Alliance, we believe that and are committed to helping you speak up on key local, state and national battles.

And you have done so in a huge way! Last week, you hit a million – a million messages sent to public officials through the Family Policy Alliance Action Center.

But what’s more exciting than that big number is the impact it represents. To help you get a sense of that, let me share with you a bit of the birds-eye view that I enjoy.

I’m privileged to work with and hear from pro-family leaders around the country. They keep us informed and give us perspective on which issue battles are especially important – and where the voice of the people could make a difference.

That’s on the front end. But the back end is where it gets especially exciting. That’s when we hear from allies in state capitols about the impact that you made with your emails, calls or other engagement.

It might be a key state senator making comments in his office about the huge flood of emails he got in support of a bill, and it’s clear from the details that they are talking about your emails through our Action Center.

Or a state representative may comment in a committee hearing about the overwhelming number of calls she received on a particular bill – right after we completed a major calling campaign in her district.

When you send a message through our Action Center or make a phone call, you often don’t know what the impact is. I’m here to tell you that, combined with the actions of others, your messages often make a profound difference.

I could go on with examples from state after state.

And even when a legislator or congressman votes the wrong way, there can still be positive impact. For one, they may become less vocal as they realize how many of their constituents take the other side on an issue. For another, as you share the alerts with others and they take action, they become more aware of where their politicians really stand, increasing the chances of holding them accountable at the next election.

So truly, thanks a million! Together, let’s keep up the impact!

Brothers and sisters in Christ,

Is it right for Christians to involve themselves in political things? Some Christians say no. They argue that believers should focus on “spiritual” things (like evangelism, prayer, Bible reading, and church) without getting “distracted” by the things of this world (which, of course, include politics).

I affirm that we should evangelize the lost, robustly pursue prayer and Bible reading, and actively involve ourselves in a local assembly of God’s people. But to say that doing these things precludes exercising our biblical responsibilities as citizens overlooks three important biblical truths.

First, God has created government as His “ministers to us for our good” (Romans 13:4). Therefore, government is something worthy of our time and efforts—it’s one of God’s gifts given to us to help promote the common good until His return!

Second, we are to “seek the welfare of the city where God has sent us” so that we may be left free to “live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity” (Jeremiah 29:7, 1 Timothy 2:2). For us to have the space to live our lives and raise our children according to God’s revealed will, government needs to respect its limited jurisdiction—it must refrain from interfering with the biblical exercise of our God-given rights.

Third, we have been given a cultural commission to transform the society around us. In the model prayer given to his disciples, Jesus instructs us to pray, “Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven” (Matthew 6:10). We are to work as God’s laborers until this goal is realized, “occupying until Jesus returns” and acting as “the salt of the earth” and “the light of the world” by promoting a godly vision for society (Luke 19:13, Matthew 5:13-16).

We can’t afford to be apathetic. If we engage in politics, we can make large leaps forward in building a public square where God is honored, religious freedom flourishes, families thrive, and life is cherished. If we withdraw from politics, another ideology will fill the vacuum. Those who show up and speak out will achieve the victory. In many ways, the sorry state of our government today is the direct result of retreat and indifference on the part of Christians.

The Family Policy Alliance® exists to unleash biblical citizenship throughout this great state and nation. This is accomplished through educating and mobilizing voters, discipling statesmen, and promoting sound policy. We know that the reformation of the “political” will only happen when Christians exercise their biblical responsibility to inform themselves and get involved in “political” things.

The Bible tells us of faithful believers who “stood firm and took action” when faced with an out-of-control government (Daniel 11:32). Will you stand with us?

Sincerely,

Nathan Winters
Director of Advocacy

My name is Nathan Winters and I am the new Advocacy Director for Family Policy Alliance® serving in Wyoming. I formerly served as a pastor with the First Baptist Church of Thermopolis. I am also a former, three-term State Representative, and today, I am proud to share with you an exciting opportunity for our state!

Last year, the good Lord led me to begin my search for a way to address some of the challenges we face in Wyoming. It is no secret that forces are at work in our culture to prevent Christians from living out their biblical values in the public square. Increasing attacks on religious freedom, the family, and the sanctity of life are making it more difficult for Christians to take a stand for their values. As a pastor, I have seen the negative impact that progressive culture is having on people, and as a legislator, I witnessed how bad public policy directly impacts the lives of our neighbors.

My journey for a solution to address these challenges ultimately led me to Family Policy Alliance. To claim ground and bring light into darkness, Family Policy Alliance—a public policy partner of Focus on the Family—is already carrying the banner of Christian values forward in 40 states. Their mission is to unleash biblical citizenship, equip and elect statesmen, promote policy, and work with an effective alliance, all committed to a common vision—a Wyoming and a nation where God is honored, religious freedom flourishes, families thrive, and life is cherished.

To achieve this mission and vision, Family Policy Alliance needs strong pro-family organizations in every state. Today, I am excited to inform you that they are now seeking support to launch their newest state ally—Family Policy Alliance of Wyoming!

Imagine a Wyoming-based organization that is building alliances with churches, promoting sound public policy in Cheyenne, mobilizing Christians to elect honorable candidates, and equipping citizens to understand the issues. That is the opportunity before us, and with your help, we can move from imagination to reality.

The funding needed to launch this effort is substantial and I am working hard to build a local network of support.

We have raised over half the funds required to launch Family Policy Alliance of Wyoming thanks to generous, local, ministry partners. Week by week, we have watched the momentum and excitement continue to build!

If you share this vision for our state, I invite you to join me with your financial gift to help launch Family Policy Alliance of Wyoming to advance biblical citizenship and equip and elect statesmen, so that God is honored, religious freedom flourishes, families thrive, and life is cherished.

Thank you for your consideration and support!

Standing for the family of believers in Wyoming,

Hundreds signing the LGBT curriculum opt-out petition, Harvest Outreach Ministries, Paterson, NJ

“I applaud Garden State Equality for not only leading this effort, but for your continued work in helping to craft this curriculum.”
Governor Phil Murphy
Garden State Equality’s Equality Ball
May 2019

According to their website, Garden State Equality in Asbury Park, is New Jersey’s statewide advocacy organization for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. They boast of implementing 222 laws and policies across our state since their founding in 2004. Unquestionably, they have been successful in influencing elected officials to subvert the traditional family by redefining human sexuality in state and local laws. However, their highest ambition is to force their sexual beliefs onto your children through the contentious LGBT curriculum that they are producing. Starting this winter, pilot programs will begin in selected schools and “curriculum coaches”, as they are referred to by Garden State Equality, will be deployed to school districts to instruct teachers how to assist their organization’s endless obsession with sexuality.

Parents should be concerned that this curriculum is not being developed by academic historians or professors writing a textbook that is peer reviewed for its correctness. It is being crafted by the most powerful LGBT advocacy group in the state. Advocacy groups have an agenda and Garden State Equality does not consider historical accuracy a part of it. The original bill language from February 2018, stated students must be taught an accurate portrayal of historical contributions of LGBT individuals in social studies. The final bill language in December 2018, and that was signed into law by Governor Murphy in Feb 2019, removed the requirement of accuracy and instead asserted students must be taught a positive view of the LGBT community, regardless of the facts.

Our state legislature has violated the public trust by allowing activists with persuasive sexual propaganda to indoctrinate the children of NJ. Therefore, in defense of parental rights, Family Policy Alliance of NJ is rallying parents, pastors and concerned community members across our state to protect students from this radical sexual agenda. I have been speaking in churches and home groups every week throughout our state to make others aware of this deceiving agenda. Currently, we have over 3,500 individuals who have signed our petition to allow parents the right to opt their child out of this curriculum. We have been in discussion with a NJ Assembly member to sponsor and introduce a parental right amendment in the new legislative session in January 2020. Statewide media has featured our efforts on this issue.

Please continue sharing our online petition with your sphere of influence. The greater numbers of people mobilized on this issue; the more serious legislators will hear our concerns.

Thank you for your action and advocacy for the students of NJ!

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed.” (Psalm 31:8)

Dear Friends,

Earlier this year, thousands of pro-life New Mexicans rallied together to defeat one of the most radical pro-abortion bills in the country—House Bill 51. Our victory sent shockwaves through the State Capitol and in the days that followed, my phone was flooded with calls from people all over the country asking, “How did you do that?” My response was always the same. We prayed, we spoke up, and we showed up.

And friends—the time has come for us to do it again!

The fight for life in New Mexico is far from over and today, we begin a new effort to thwart the agenda of the radical abortion industry with the release of our 2020 “New Mexicans for Life” Pro-Life Petition. House Bill 51 will be back during the upcoming Legislative Session in January and we must again send a clear message to the Governor and the members of the Legislature—that we oppose abortion up-to-birth and infanticide, and any effort to repeal important conscience protections for our medical professionals.

Family Policy Alliance of New Mexico is proud to be partnering with Right to Life Committee of New Mexico and New Mexico Alliance for Life on this important project and we are depending on you to make it a success.

Will you help us today by doing 3 things?

  1. Please ADD YOUR NAME by clicking here. It only takes 30 seconds and in addition to your name being added to the petition, a message will immediately be sent to the Governor and your State Senator and Representative.
  2. Please SHARE THIS EMAIL by forwarding it to your family members, friends, and pastors.
  3. Please SHARE OUR PETITION LINK on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram – newmexicansforlife.com.

Thank you for making your voice heard and for speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Vince Torres

Dear Friends,

Your voice is needed to protect New Jersey children today!

Impressionable students – our children and grandchildren – are about to be forced to endure radical LGBT sexual indoctrination in the classroom. That’s after state lawmakers ignored the comments of their constituents and instead bowed to the pressure of powerful lobbying groups.

Beginning in the 2020-2021 school year, a new mandated curriculum will require textbook authors to speculate about the sexual preferences and gender identity of noteworthy historical figures – and then impose this false narrative on our children in public schools. The radical left’s endless obsession with sexuality should not be forced upon our children!

Nearly 2,200 New Jerseyans have already signed the petition. If you haven’t yet done so, your voice is needed to speak out for parental rights amid these changes.

If you already have, thank you! But there is one more thing that can make a huge difference. Please take a moment to share it with friends, family and other New Jersey residents who share your values.

The sexual indoctrination of our children must end.

Parents should know that the scope of these changes affects every subject in school, and it takes away their right to opt their children out of the questionable instruction. In many ways, this instruction will directly challenge Biblical teaching on homosexuality and what parents choose to teach children at home.

Facts About New Jersey’s LGBT Curriculum Mandate

Please take a moment to sign the New Jersey LGBT Curriculum Opt-Out Petition to Governor Murphy and the Legislature. We have made it simple – just follow this petition link and join us today.  And please share the link with others. Thank you for spreading the word!

Sincerely,

Dear Friends:

“Drag Queen Storytime,” which began in places like New York City and San Francisco, is now coming to Albuquerque.

Next Saturday, June 15th, Albuquerque’s Main Library is slated to host adult male entertainers, outfitted in makeup and outfits, using their “drag” names, reading to young children. And despite what the organizers of these events claim, there is nothing innocent or family-friendly about these events. Your help is needed to send a message to city and county officials today.

These story hours have a very specific agenda and the organizers have not been coy about the intent of the program. According to advertisements in other cities, “Drag Queen Story Hour captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive and unabashedly queer models. In spaces like this, kids are able to see people who defy rigid gender restrictions and imagine a world where people can present as they wish, where dress up is real.”

Not only is “Drag Queen Storytime” being advertised on the Main Library’s official website and social media, but it is scheduled to take place during the Library’s “Family Fun”—an event for families and children ages 0-12.

Today, we are asking concerned citizens, parents, and taxpayers to speak up and encourage the Library to cancel this event. You can do so in three ways:

  1. Please click here to send a message to the Mayor, the Albuquerque City Council, and the Bernalillo County Commission.
  2. Please call the Library Director at (505) 768-5141 and leave the following message: “Drag queen programs are inappropriate for children and the library should not host or promote them.”
  3. Please share this message with your friends and family.

Thank you for speaking up!

The Family Policy Alliance of New Mexico Team

Dear Friends:

Every week, social media users use the hashtags #ThrowbackThursday or #TBT to share some of their favorite memories. This week, I took some time to reflect on some of the best memories I have had since launching Family Policy Alliance of New Mexico®. Fortunately for me and my memory, I did not have to think that far back for an all-time favorite!

#ThrowbackThursday this week takes us back just 3 months to March 14, 2019—the night when 8 Democrats joined 16 Republicans in the New Mexico Senate to defeat the radical abortion bill, HB 51. This was the night when the pro-life community of New Mexico went up against the abortion industry giant…and won!

Three months later, I am still reflecting on what we learned from that historic night.

We learned that the good Lord still answers our prayers.

We learned that people of faith can be a powerful force in New Mexico politics.

And we learned the importance of having pro-life men and women serving in our State Legislature.

Come January 2020, we need history to repeat itself. The Governor has already made public her intentions to bring back this legislation in order to maintain the status quo in New Mexico—which is abortion up-to-birth, for any reason.

My question is, are you ready to do this all over again?

We are! The 2020 Legislative Session may be seven months away, but our preparation begins now.

Our vision is a New Mexico where life is cherished. Together, let’s make it happen.

Standing for Life,

Vince Torres
President and Executive Director

“The Right Doesn’t Actually Care About Brown and Black Babies.”

I have seen viral variations of this quote on social media countless times the past couple of weeks, amidst pro-life victories in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Ohio and more.

I listened as Alyssa Milano claimed that protecting the preborn would be “catastrophic” for black women. I was deeply disturbed as major news outlets flooded readers with arguments that black women would be hurt the most by pro-life laws, even to the point of enslaving them once again. And I was in utter disbelief when Ohio state Rep. Janine Boyd proposed an amendment to a bill that would only allow black mothers to have an abortion.

What the Left has shown me in the past couple weeks is that they thrive when they are relentlessly and recklessly leveraging race. They inflame and foment racial differences until their people are hysterical over the idea that slavery is returning to our country at the hands of the pro-life movement. The Left’s frenzied panic and outlandish claims compel me to respond to the insidious lie that “the Right doesn’t actually care about black and brown babies.”

I am black. I am pro-life. And I do care. I think I can speak for all pro-lifers when I say we care about all pre-born babies—babies so early in development that they don’t have a skin color. Regrettably, it is the Left that has a race problem at its core, and this problem is as old as the institution of slavery.

The Left: 100 Years of Culling the Undesirables

It is the Left, in fact, that worships an organization that was birthed out of the racist ideas of its founder, Margaret Sanger. She was a staunch proponent of the contemptible, progressive, eugenics movement –the discredited philosophical concept that undesirable people should be eliminated from the gene pool of the human race. Undesirables, like the poor, illiterate, disabled … and the dark skinned.

Unfortunately, Sanger’s degenerate beliefs led her to work very closely and intentionally with the black community, “assuring” them that her goal was not to exterminate the Negro population.”

America’s intricate strategy to dovetail racist policies and eugenics was so effective that it was studied by one Adolf Hitler, and the horrors of the eugenics movement were fully realized in the unspeakable atrocities of the Holocaust.

Fast forward to today, and Margaret Sanger’s early organization, the American Birth Control League, has become today’s Planned Parenthood, and the intentional targeting of America’s minorities continues.

The Left: Targeting Blacks Using a “Right to Choose”

It has been said that 79 percent of Planned Parenthood’s surgical abortion facilities are within walking distance of black and brown neighborhoods. Indeed, more than 19 million black babies have been aborted since the Roe v. Wade ruling in 1973, effectively reducing the size of today’s black community by 40-50 percent! The CDC reports that 36 percent of all abortions in the United States are performed on black women, despite the fact that they represent just 13 percent of the population. (Hispanic babies are also aborted at one-and-a-half times the rate of white babies, making up 18 percent of all aborted babies.) “More members of the black community are killed by abortion each year in the United States than by all other causes combined.”

Despite the intentional targeting of poor and minority communities that has persisted across the decades, Sanger’s strategy to ensure that blacks remain unaware of their extermination has worked perfectly, with both pro-choice blacks and their allies insisting on their right to choose.

Over a hundred years ago, the “pro-choice” party of today insisted that the institution of slavery was also a choice to which every state was entitled. Their platform was that each state should have the right to choose whether slavery was a morally acceptable option for its own citizens. In addition, states were not allowed to impose their moral beliefs about slavery on others because slavery was a Constitutionally protected right.

If Leftists were truly staunch advocates of racial equality and harmony, they should be moved to address the fact that the face of abortion has a color. They should be compelled to address the fact their pro-choice platform of a century past has resulted in tens of millions lives lost, a great many of them black. Pro-lifers understand that a law that is ruled to be “constitutional” can still be morally reprehensible.

So the next time you hear someone on the Left claiming that the Right doesn’t care about brown and black babies, know that it’s a lie designed to cover up their own shameful past and present. The truth is this: Regardless of political philosophy, no one is doing more to protect brown and black babies than the pro-life movement. Let’s keep it up!

With Nancy Pelosi’s dangerous Equality Act facing a vote on Thursday in the U.S. House, it has become even clearer that this is a clash between D.C. lobbying powerhouses and grassroots America.

Two major factions are pushing the Equality Act: the LGBT lobby and big business.

The LGBT lobby, led by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), has been ratcheting up pressure from the Left. But they are joined by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which has been pushing Republicans to support the bill, despite the fact that it imperils religious freedom, parental rights and more.

The Chamber has even threatened to “score” this vote – meaning that each representative’s vote would be factored into the Chamber’s rating of how pro-business that member is.

But while this strange-bedfellow coalition works the D.C. swamp, grassroots America is heating up in strong opposition to the bill. Congressional offices report that this bill is generating the most constituent opposition to a bill that they have seen in a long time.

Family Policy Alliance® supporters like you have played a significant part in that growing grassroots opposition. And you still have a chance to make your voice heard!

You can send an email in just moments on our Action Center. Then you’ll receive a follow-up email with your representative’s name and number so you can easily make a quick call, asking them to vote NO on the so-called Equality Act.

Thanks for speaking up!
