“For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” –2 Corinthians 12:10 (ESV)

Dear Friends:

Well, that didn’t take long! Last week, the Democratic Party of New Mexico (DPNM) lodged a direct attack against our Christian organization for being pro-life; for fighting to protect Christian and Catholic adoption agencies from being forced to violate their religious beliefs regarding marriage; and for opposing a nationwide program that is bringing drag queens into public libraries to read inappropriate material to 3-7-year-old children.

In the words of DPNM, Family Policy Alliance of New Mexico and our endorsed candidates are “far-right social crusaders” trying to force our “fringe views” on New Mexico. The intent by the far-left here is clear—to try and silence us from engaging in civic responsibility. However, we will not be silenced, and I want to thank the many people who have reached out to me with words of support and encouragement, including several Democrats.

From Harry in Santa Fe: “As a lifelong Democrat, I am disappointed that my state party would directly attack people of faith like this and label my pro-life position as ‘fringe.’ Is the Democratic Party of New Mexico saying that pro-life Democrats are no longer welcome in the party? If so, we do have a problem with ‘fringe’ views, and they are coming from the Democratic leadership.”

From Martha in Pojoaque: “There are many being pulled by the nose by the ultra-progressives in the Democratic Party. It has been a sad thing to witness and something that has caused many to walk away. However, there are still moderate Democrats fighting the good fight. My party affiliation—Democrat—but my banner over me is born again Christian above all, and that is what guides my vote.”

These are just two of many comments I received recently, and they reinforce a critical truth regarding our organization. We will never be driven by party politics, nor will we ever be silenced by them. While the political winds blow from hard-left to hard-right, Family Policy Alliance of New Mexico will always stand firm in God’s truth, which, quite frankly, will frustrate the left at times, and the right at others.

Anyone who knows anything about our organization knows that we are not a partisan group, nor are we affiliated with any political party. We are a faith-based ministry that engages in public policy and elections, and our positions are rooted in biblical truthsnot political platforms. As such, our supporters and ministry partners are primarily people of faith who share our vision for New Mexico—a state where religious freedom flourishes, families thrive, and life is cherished. They come from all over the state and from all political parties—Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, and Independents.

This is what makes the attack by the DPNM so questionable and troubling. Ultimately, it was not just an attack against our organization. It was an attack against all people of faith who share our values, including many Christian and Catholic Democrats who are pro-life, pro-family, and pro-religious freedom.

One Christian Democratic elected official recently told me, “Christians have to do a better job of standing up and being heard.” I believe that. I know you do as well. And if you want to help ensure that people of faith like us continue to have a voice in New Mexico, please CLICK HERE to support us with a financial gift today.

Together, we are making a difference and, together, we can turn New Mexico around! God bless you and thank for your support.

Sincerely,

Vince Torres
