In the State:

Wow, it’s hard to believe that January is almost over already. Where does the time go? At any rate, a lot has happened here in New Jersey in January regarding legislation. I am sure you have heard that the lame duck session of our legislature passed one of the most egregious abortion bills in our nation on January 10th, one day before the lame duck session ended. So, what should be our response? Our slogan, taken from the book of Daniel, sums it up well; “The people who know their God shall stand firm and take action.” Daniel 11:32 (ESV)

There is a sea change coming; you can feel it. Pro-life men and women are rising up, in spite of what just happened in Trenton. As Winston Churchill rightly stated at one of the darkest times in Britain’s history; “Never, Never, Never give up!” And give up we will NOT do! As a member of the pro-life coalition in New Jersey, we will continue working with other pro-life organizations to see this egregious legislation chipped away at and eventually reversed. Yes, it is a new year and a new day. Opportunities to do good are all around us, and we must take advantage of those opportunities. We await the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) in the Dobbs case (see below).

On January 11th at 12:00 Noon, the Legislature opened the 22oth Legislative Session, which runs for two years. Newly elected members from the November General Election were installed. Currently, the Democrats are the majority party in both Houses. In the Senate, there are 24 Democrats and 16 Republicans; last session it was 26 Democrats and 14 Republicans. There are 46 Democrats and 34 Republicans in the General Assembly; last session there were 52 Democrats and 28 Republicans. This was the first time in over 20 years that the Republicans had any major pickup of seats.

In the Nation:

I am sure you have heard of the case before SCOTUS regarding Mississippi’s ban on abortions at the 15-week mark. Many experts in the field are hopeful for the possible overturning of Roe v Wade. Oral arguments were made in the beginning of December, and we anticipate a decision in June. If Roe is overturned or even just weakened, a lot of the battles for life will end up going back to the states, including New Jersey.

The Biden Administration’s vaccine mandate for businesses of 100 employees or more went down in flames by a 6-3 margin at the U.S. Supreme Court. We participated in the case by joining with Family Policy Alliance and many of the other state-based Family Policy Councils. After ringing in a New Year, each January we focus on the life issues, as this is the month when the infamous Roe v. Wade decision was handed down by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1973, leading to the termination nationally of more than 62 million babies in the womb.

Also, every two years we deal with what is infamously called “The Lame Duck Legislative Session.”  This year’s version began after the General Election on Nov. 2 and ran through Jan. 11. This is a time when some of the most egregious bills that the radical left wants to see passed into law get moved, and this year was no different.

The Reproductive Freedom Act was redrafted and pushed forward, ignoring all policies and procedures for bill hearings, the most important being that a bill should be posted and available for review five days before the scheduled hearing. With the liberals in control, those protocols went out the window. The bills were actually being delivered to the legislators as the committees held the hearing.

This new version (S49/A6260) had all the egregious points of the initial bills and would legalize abortion up to the point of birth. In the Assembly, it passed by a vote of 46-22, with four not voting and eight abstaining. In the Senate, the vote was 23-15, with two not voting. So as most New Jerseyans were dealing with the pandemic and the Omicron variant, the legislature took the opportunity to “get things done.”

Thank you to so many of you all over the state who responded to our call to action and made your voices heard to legislators on this outrageous bill. It’s important that we do so, even when it’s an uphill fight. We have the self-evident truth of life on our side, and we must continue to proclaim it. Someday, we WILL WIN the fight to protect life, and the mystery will be how our politicians of today could have been so hard-hearted and blind to the truth.

To that end, here are two more ways that you can actively stand for life:

In this context, it’s also fitting that we commemorate the life of an American Hero on Monday. Dr. Martin Luther King literally gave his life in the quest to uphold true equality. His quest for people of color to be treated equally was, on Dr. King’s part, a mission worth dying for. Let’s remember his sacrifice and critical contribution to upholding the life and dignity of all.

Dear Friend,

Your help is needed immediately to stop the License to Kill Act. Formerly known as the so-called Reproductive Freedom Act, now renamed S49/A6260, this legislation “Codifies constitutional right to freedom of reproductive choice.”

This is the most radical abortion bill ever proposed in this state.

Under this legislation:

We have held protests and rallies throughout the state over this past year! Now, pro-abortion organizations are working behind the scenes and rushing these bills through in the last minutes of this Legislative Session.

We must make our voices heard!!

We need you to immediately contact your two Assembly Representatives and NJ State Senate and urge them to vote against the replacement bill for the Reproductive Freedom Act in the NJ Senate S49/A6260. (Codifies constitutional right to freedom of reproductive choice.)

It only takes a moment to send a message to them in our Action Center.

You may want to contact your state legislator’s office by phone as well. We will also email it to you once you have taken action in our Action Center.

Let’s act like lives depend on it – because they do!

This past Tuesday, Governor Murphy gave his State of the State address. Once again, he referenced his strong commitment to passing the most unsafe and radical abortion bill ever proposed in our state – or possibly anywhere.

“After years of willful neglect, we are funding women’s health care and family-planning services [Planned Parenthood] — and, no matter what happens in Washington, we are working to protect a woman’s full reproductive rights as a matter of state law [New Jersey License to Kill Act].”
Governor Phil Murphy, State of the State address, Jan 12, 2021, brackets added for clarity.

The New Jersey License to Kill Act (so-called Reproductive Freedom Act) rejects the pro-life beliefs of voters, to instead satisfy and subsidize the Big Abortion Industry. Did you know that this bill would codify into law that certified midwives and nurses can perform suction and surgical abortions? Why? Because the Big Abortion Industry can pay them less money than a licensed physician.  Planned Parenthood and politicians are jeopardizing women’s health by putting profits above people. It’s shameful, unethical, and it must stop!

Yet, Murphy’s administration is so committed to this agenda that he won’t wait for the law to be passed to implement these dangerous ideas! He has instructed the Board of Medical Examiners to change the rules regarding abortion care to allow non-physicians to perform abortions. This bureaucratic department is currently taking comments from the public regarding this rule change.

In response, I am excited to share with you that we have a webpage dedicated to opposing this abortion up-to-birth bill! You can go to to learn more about this dangerous bill – including its sponsors and how you can contact them. Also on the webpage, you’ll find news stories, videos, and a resource you can share with others.

Additionally, billboards featuring the website are being erected near the offices of key senate sponsors across the state, including one (pictured above) at the entrance to Trenton, only 2 miles from the statehouse.

Wondering how you can speak up? Here are two ways to help:
