There once was a time when she thought the overturn of Roe v. Wade was impossible, but she never stopped fighting for the unborn. Now #AfterRoe, Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, has been called “the woman who brought down Roe” by the Los Angeles Times and others. She has been published in TIME, the Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, USA Today, RealClearPolitics, The Washington Post, and National Review, and more.

Pro-lifers will gather outside more than 200 Planned Parenthood facilities in 44 states on Saturday to call for defunding of the abortion seller.

Congress is considering legislation that would reallocate funds from Planned Parenthood to more life-affirming options.

“The federal government has been subsidizing Planned Parenthood to the tune of more than $430 million annually,” said Eric Scheidler, national organizer of #ProtestPP. “This, at the same time that the nation’s largest abortion provider holds $500 a ticket fundraisers and charges a woman about $500 to abort her baby. Taxpayers are sickened to see their money spent in support of these atrocities.”

The protests will focus on four points:

“The majority of Americans want taxpayer funding to go to real women’s health care, not abortion,” Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser said. “This Saturday, that majority will let their voices be heard at #ProtestPP gatherings nationwide.”

Radio station WTOP in Washington, D.C., stopped airing a paid advertisement from a pro-life group. The ads by the Susan B. Anthony List were aimed at Congress, which is considering whether to stop sending taxpayer dollars to the nation’s largest abortion seller.

“One of the surest signs that a policy message like ours is effective is its opponents’ pushing to silence it,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser with SBA List. “Planned Parenthood speaks boldly of its pride in performing more abortions than any other entity in the United States and packaging the body parts of these abortion children for profitable use. These are the facts, however uncomfortable they may be for some to hear.”

Despite the setback, Dannenfelser says her group is not going away.

“We will continue to unveil and champion the truth about Planned Parenthood,” she said, “no matter what they and their allies do to suppress the reality behind their public masks.”

Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin recently signed the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. It effectively bans abortions after five months.

Kent Ostrander, president of our ally, The Family Foundation of Kentucky, said the General Assembly accomplished more for the pro-life cause in five days than it had in the past decade.

Marjorie Dennenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, said Kentucky becomes the 19th state to pass the measure. She says it’s time for the U.S. Congress to make it law.

“As Governor Bevin rightly pointed out, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act is popular on both sides of the aisle,” she explained. “Americans are eager to see the U.S. removed from the list of only seven countries to allow abortion on-demand more than halfway through pregnancy.”

Rep. Nancy Pelosi successfully thwarted an attempt by Rep. Tim Ryan to unseat her as House Minority Leader. Ryan had been urging Democrats to go in a new direction.

When it comes to life, religious freedom and family values, Pelosi remains the poster child for the progressive push in Congress. She was one of the chief architects of Obamacare and is staunchly pro-abortion.

“Nancy Pelosi is a chief purveyor of voter-rejected Democratic abortion extremism,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List. “Democrats would rather continue to be in the minority than stray from their pro-abortion orthodoxy. Their support for painful late-term abortion and taxpayer-funded abortion has left voters behind.”

As Republicans work toward replacing Obamacare, Pelosi will likely fight to keep the failed program intact.

“We’d like to see the Trump administration stop taxpayer funding of abortion – in Obamacare and elsewhere,” said Paul Weber, president and CEO of Family Policy Alliance. “After that, conscientious objections to abortion need to be strengthened in any health care plan presented. Religious freedoms are outlined in our Constitution precisely because they belong to every American. And they should be fortified so no one is forced to violate their deeply held beliefs.”

Weber said the Democrats decision to go with Pelosi may come back to haunt them.

“Democrats are losing elections at the state and federal level,” he said. “Yet they continue to uphold failed policies and failed leadership. We can expect Nancy Pelosi and her caucus to push back against any positive change brought forward. Conservatives should continue to advance a pro-family agenda, because the people have spoken – and that’s what they want.”

“The Obama administration has demonstrated it cannot be trusted…”

Merrick Garland is President Obama’s nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court to fill the vacancy left by the death of Antonin Scalia.

Pro-family groups want the Senate to wait until after the presidential election to take any action on a nominee.

“This changes nothing,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser with Susan B. Anthony List. “We do not know this nominee but we do know Barack Obama. Anyone he nominates will join the voting bloc on the Court that consistently upholds abortion on-demand.”

“The Obama administration has demonstrated it cannot be trusted to respect the rule of law, the Constitution and the limits of its own authority,” said attorney Casey Mattox with Alliance Defending Freedom. “So it should be no surprise that the American people would be highly skeptical that any nominee this president puts forth would be acceptable.”

“President Obama has already appointed two judicial activists to the Court,” said Jonathan Saenz of Texas Values,” that have voted to redefine marriage and have opposed religious freedom and protecting life in the Hobby Lobby decision.”

Senate Republicans continue to say they will not hold hearings on any nominee. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell took to the floor after the announcement.

“It is the president’s constitutional right to nominate a Supreme Court Justice and it is the Senate’s constitutional right to act as a check on the president, and withhold its consent,” he said. “Our view is: Give the people a voice in filling this vacancy.”
