President Trump Signs “Save Girls Sports” Executive Order

February 5, 2025

For the second time in as many weeks, we are excited to celebrate a huge win that you made possible!

President Trump just signed an Executive Order aimed at ensuring girls sports remain exclusively for girls!

FPA was involved in the inception of the nationwide #SaveGirlsSports campaign starting in 2019, when we were on the ground in the Idaho state house advocating for the eventual passage of the first ever state-level Save Girls Sports bill. We were honored to support Idaho State Representative Barbara Ehardt, the courageous pioneer who sponsored that law.

On the heels of that lobbying effort, FPA established the #SaveGirlsSports campaign. Since then, 23 additional states have enacted a Save Girls Sports law, thanks in large part to your support and the advocacy of our alliance network of state Family Policy Councils (FPCs).

This news comes on National Girls & Women in Sports Day, when we celebrate women’s achievements and opportunities in athletics. We are thankful to see today’s EO to protect women’s rights and opportunities in sports!

While we are encouraged by this victory, we remain committed to a fight that is not over: 26 states still need to enact a Save Girls Sports law, and Congress needs to enact a federal version of the law to ensure women’s rights and opportunities are protected at every level.

Contact your state Family Policy Council for other ways to get involved in advancing this and other important legislation in your state.

Sincerely,

Craig DeRoche,
President & CEO
