Congress Passes FPA-Backed Take It Down Act!

May 1, 2025

Dear {{FirstName}},

We have exciting news: Congress just passed the first FPA-backed bill this session, called the Take It Down Act. The bill is designed to protect people from becoming victims of non-consensual sharing of sexually explicit images and AI-generated and “deepfake” pornography.

We were so close to passing this bill last Congress, but good things have come to those who don’t give up. This time, the Senate passed the Take It Down Act unanimously! Even in such a polarized chamber, in such a divisive time, all 100 Senators (and all but two members of the House) agreed to protect kids from the horrors of AI-generated pornography. The bill also provides robust protections against the recent troubling trend of “sextortion” crimes.  This bill’s objectives fit perfectly into FPA’s Let Parents Parent campaign, which is why we have been such vocal supporters from its inception.

This bill has been a passion project of First Lady Melania Trump, and we sincerely thank her for her heart to protect kids from these evils. The bill has also received wholehearted support from Speaker Mike Johnson and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, as well as some high-ranking House Democrats. We are extremely excited that the bill now heads to President Donald J. Trump’s desk, and he is expected to sign it!

Join us in celebrating this amazing success within our Let Parents Parent campaign! Combined with the wave of 21 state laws we have passed protecting kids from exposure to online pornography, this represents a shift in our nation’s thinking, back to putting kids first at every level of government. It was YOUR support that made FPA’s support of this bill possible, and we can’t thank you enough!

Sincerely,

Dylan Jeremiah
