President Trump SIGNS FPA-Backed Take It Down Act!

May 19, 2025

Dear Friends,

President Donald J. Trump just signed the first FPA-backed bill of his second term, the Take It Down Act!

Last week we wrote to you with the great news that Congress passed the Take It Down Act, which protects people from becoming victims of non-consensual sharing of sexually explicit images and AI-generated and “deepfake” pornography.

The bill also provides strong protections against the recent trend of “sextortion” crimes, where young people are tricked by adults posing as people their own age to send explicit media of themselves over the internet. According to the FBI, these criminals “threaten to publish that [explicit media], or they threaten violence, to get the victim to produce more images. The shame, fear, and confusion children feel when they are caught in this cycle often prevents them from asking for help or reporting the abuse.”

This is the first FPA-backed bill Congress has passed this session—and now we’re so thrilled to tell you that President Trump has signed the bill into law during a public signing ceremony at the White House!

First Lady Melania Trump has played a powerful leading role on this bill from the beginning. The bill passed unanimously in the Senate and again with only a few defectors in the House. With President Trump’s signature, it should be a moving encouragement to pro-family people like us that such an important bill to protect our kids could unite so many across all political divides.

Thank you for your support that made FPA’s work and success on this bill possible! This is what your support can create: sweepingly bipartisan, difference-making bills in the lives of our innocent children as they grow up in the digital age!

Sincerely,

Dylan Jeremiah
Director, Government Affairs
