Protecting Families Online: From the White House to Big Tech

October 23, 2026

Protecting American families from online threats was front and center at the White House this week, and Family Policy Alliance was in the room.

President Donald Trump, joined by FBI Director Kash Patel, Attorney General Todd Blanche, Secretary Pete Hegseth and other senior administration officials, outlined efforts to combat cybercrime, recover stolen money for victims and protect Americans from online exploitation.

While much of the discussion focused on financial scams targeting seniors, one issue particularly stood out to me: the growing threat of online sextortion targeting children and young people.

This is an issue closely connected to our work at Family Policy Alliance.

We recently joined more than 90 organizations and advocates, including several of our state Family Policy Councils, in signing a coalition letter calling on TikTok, YouTube and Snapchat to strengthen protections for children.

Following Meta’s agreement to implement new safeguards for minors, the letter urges other major platforms to follow suit with commonsense protections, including:

  • Stronger parental controls and age verification
  • Daily screen time limits
  • Restrictions during school hours and overnight
  • Greater safeguards against harmful content and addictive features

Protecting children shouldn’t depend on which app they’re using. This effort is already gaining national attention, with Fox Business highlighting the coalition’s call for action. Read the Fox Business coverage.

Through our Let Parents Parent initiative, Family Policy Alliance and our state allies continue fighting to put parents back in the driver’s seat and hold Big Tech accountable.

Thank you for standing with us in this important work! If you know someone who shares our commitment to protecting children and strengthening families, please forward this email to help spread the word about how Family Policy Alliance is working to help families flourish in a God-honoring nation.

For families,
