It began in places like New York and Los Angeles, and is now spreading across the country. “Drag Queen Story Hour” is a phenomenon that could show up at your community library very soon. Already, events have been hosted at the Lawrence Public Library and Manhattan Public Library.
The events feature men outfitted in makeup and outfits, using their “drag” name, reading stories to children at public libraries. Drag Queen Story Hour and events like it have already happened or are planned in at least 40 states.
Despite what organizers say, there is nothing innocent or “family-friendly” about these events. The story-times have a very specific agenda. According to event organizers, the mission of the program is to:
“capture the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive and unabashedly queer role models. In spaces like this, kids are able to see people who defy rigid gender restrictions and imagine a world where people can present as they wish, where dress up is real.:
Organizers recommend that the drag queens read books to children that promote LGBT ideology and even provide a list of resources written for children as young as preschoolers. Recommended readings include Teddy’s Favorite Toy, My Princess Boy, and Worm Loves Worm.
The ideology behind “Drag Queen Story Hour” goes beyond ideas about sexual identity. For these activists, undermining the authority of parents in the lives of their children is often necessary. Columbus, Georgia, Gay Pride Director Jeremy Hobbs was overt about a desire to undermine parents: “We’re not born with hate; we learn hate. And it all starts at home.”
Yes, beyond introducing and pushing an LGBT lifestyle to innocent children, this program plans to teach kids that any biblical values they may glean from the home is “hate.”
It’s time to act.
First, we will be providing more information in the coming weeks on this unacceptable program, and we will be ready to act. To help fund our efforts to inform and engage local communities with a call to action, consider a contribution to help in our efforts.
Second, make sure your pastor is aware of this program AND encourage him to preach on the important topic of gender and the assault it is facing from the radical Left.
Third, remember to discuss this upcoming election with your network. One choice running for governor, Laura Kelly, has been transparent about her plan to fully embrace the LGBT agenda and undermine the values Kansas kids learn at home.
Our culture is facing issues that- even just 5 years ago- seemed unimaginable. The only way to push back is for the church, the Body of Christ, to be awake, alert, and active. We look forward to partnering with you to that end.
