NO VACCINE MANDATE for Rhode ISLAND!

September 10, 2021

There is a rising tide of voices that want the Governor’s vaccine mandate for health care workers reversed. The chorus is growing louder for many different reasons, not the least of which is conscience rights. It’s time to take action.

Many of us see it as a religious freedom issue. I worked as a medical technologist for more than forty years, but it was just a little over a year ago that I learned many vaccines are developed from or tested on aborted-derived cell lines. The sale of the remains of these babies is a very lucrative byproduct of the abortion industry that many are unaware of. For some, taking vaccines in general is a conscience issue and being forced to take one could violate their 1st Amendment Rights.

Another factor to consider with the mandate is that it violates our personal freedoms. Some friends who support the work of Family Policy Alliance here in Rhode Island are from South America. They watched the gradual Marxist takeover of their native country and see the same signs of government overreach and loss of personal freedom taking shape in America.

Governor McKee’s emergency state regulation (216-RICR-20-15-8) enacted on August 17 requires all licensed healthcare workers and providers be vaccinated against COVID-19 by October 1, 2021 – with only a narrow exemption. Non-compliance will result in some losing their jobs at a time when there are already shortages in key segments of the state’s workforce.

According to GoLocalProv.com over 30 members in House of Representatives have asked Gov. McKee to reverse his mandate. House Speaker Joseph Shekarchi acknowledged during a recent on-air interview, “I have a concern about mandatory vaccines, and I have expressed concerns with the governor and the Senate president”.  The pushback on the senate side is also growing. The Providence Journal yesterday reported the governor is moving towards a more flexible position on the mandate. Let’s pray he does!

Sen. de la Cruz referenced Rhode Island founder Roger Williams in her appeal, “This sweeping policy ignores legitimate religious and medical concerns of individuals. It also is an affront to Rhode island’s founding principles. Roger Williams established Rhode Island as a colony to be set apart for its respect for the individual. Uniquely, RI became a haven for those whose conscience and convictions could be faithfully and freely followed. Sadly, today’s leadership is turning its back on our proud heritage and what made Rhode Island great.”

Here at Family Policy Alliance in Rhode Island, we are asking you to join other voices in our state and send the same message to Governor McKee. Let’s ask him to rescind the vaccine mandate for Rhode Islanders.

Please take action here.
