BREAKING: NCAA Forces Female to Take Second Place to Male

Lia Thomas, a male who identifies as female, has been named the champion in the 500 free at the NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming Championship.

Meridian Baldacci, Spokesperson for Family Policy Alliance, released the following statement:

“Tonight, the NCAA forced a girl to take second place simply because her opponent was male. In any other context, this would be decried as sexism. It is a reminder of why we must give girls back their own lane in swimming and throughout sports. States around the nation should take this as a wake-up call to #SaveGirlsSports through college.

Tonight, when Emma Weyant should have been named winner, girls everywhere lost.”

To date, six states have passed laws that protecting female athletes through college. Those interested can learn more from the Save Girls’ Sports campaign.
