Since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, President Biden, Senator Schumer, and Speaker Pelosi are trying to appease their base by pushing an onslaught of radical abortion policies.

Speaker Pelosi pitched a fit the day Roe v. Wade was overturned, and today she brought two extreme abortion bills to the House floor for a vote, H.R. 8296 and H.R. 8297.

H.R. 8296 will allow abortion-on-demand in every state if enacted into law and H.R. 8297 will protect abortionists and hurt women if enacted into law. The House passed both bills today by a vote of 219-209.

When the votes were brought up on the floor, Representatives Michelle Fischbach (MN-7) and Mike Johnson (LA-04) stepped up to the plate and brought motions to vote on the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Act. But Democrats balked at the common-sense protections for children outside of the womb who survive abortions and voted down the motions—proving how extreme Democrat leadership has become in their abortion policy.

The Senate pitched a fastball with a bill that shields abortionists from state laws that protect life and promotes women traveling across state lines to have abortions. Thankfully, Sen. Lankford (OK) cried “foul!” and was able to stop the bill in its tracks.

President Biden is trying to score as many points with the far-left base as he can by pushing abortion policies through the Executive Branch. Last week, he issued an Executive Order protecting “mobile abortionists,” seeking to discredit pregnancy care centers, creating legal cover for the abortion industry, and spreading the abortion poison pill.

The President is also trying to load his bases with federal agencies. For instance, the Department of Justice created a “Reproductive Justice Task Force” to fight pro-life laws and spread dangerous chemical abortions. The Department of Health and Human Services issued guidelines attempting to force pharmacists to provide abortifacients.

With the overturning of Roe v. Wade, we know we are not in the last inning! And we know that protecting life is not a political game.

While the left’s batting average is failing the American people, we will not stop fighting for the life and well-being of preborn children and their mothers. When abortion is unthinkable and life is cherished, we win.

Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer are desperate to protect and promote unlimited abortion across the country. They know the U.S. Supreme Court could soon overturn Roe v. Wade.

Their latest effort involves H.R. 3755, which has already passed the House. We expect the Senate will vote to advance it on MONDAY. This bill would allow abortion-on-demand in every state if enacted into law. This is the first time the Senate has ever voted on such an expansive abortion bill.

Tell your Senator to vote NO on H.R. 3755!

If enacted, H.R. 3755 would:

Congress had their annual baseball game last night. Democrats lost last night’s game, but now they’re trying to get their triple-threat agenda across home plate in Congress. Democrats want to pass at least three radical bills by the end of the week. Here’s a quick pitch of the bills they want to pass:

Infrastructure
The Infrastructure Bill should be about fixing roads and infrastructure, as the name suggests. Here’s the catch: this over 2,000-page bill will cost taxpayers $1 trillion and contains Equality Act language.

Human Infrastructure
The House is also teaming up with Biden to pass a radical $3.5 trillion “Human Infrastructure” bill, also known as Biden’s Socialist Budget. The bill omits the Hyde amendment, meaning the bill would force taxpayers to fund abortions. The bill also overrides longstanding pro-life protections in a new government-run health care program and in the Affordable Care Act exchanges.

HR 2119
Finally, the House will vote on HR 2119, the Family Violence Prevention Services Improvement Act of 2021. This bill should be focused on giving states grants to help individuals impacted by domestic violence. But here’s the curveball:  HR 2119 is being used as a vehicle for radical Equality Act language. Specifically,

These three bills could be up for a vote any time this week! Please step up to the plate and urge your Member of Congress to OPPOSE the Democrats’ Triple Threat Agenda! Every week, we are a little more surprised at the ‘woke’ and out-of-touch agenda coming out of D.C.—but this week was definitely one for the books.

Our team wanted to provide you with a short update on critical issues from D.C. that affect your values.

The Most Radical Abortion Bill Ever to Hit the House Floor

Speaker Pelosi was furious that the state of Texas passed a bill to protect babies in the womb with detectable heartbeats from abortion—and that the courts said the law could go into effect.

In retaliation, she fast-tracked her abortion-on-demand bill with radical policies that would allow abortions to be performed simply based on the baby’s sex, remove safeguards for mothers, and more.

Our Policy & Communications Strategist, Meridian Baldacci, slammed the House’s vote to pass Pelosi’s bill:

These lawmakers shamelessly went on record that they support abortion anytime, anywhere, for any reason. They have shown a brazen willingness to endanger women, from the littlest girl in the womb to the mother who carries her….By voting for this bill today, some members have given up their seats for 2022. An increasingly pro-life America will make sure of that.”

Pelosi’s Low Opinion of the Defense of America

This week, the House voted 316-113 to pass an important piece of legislation called the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The NDAA is taken up for consideration each legislative cycle and is critical for funding America’s defenses. Unfortunately, Speaker Pelosi and Democratic leadership used this bill to play politics with our nation’s defense, following the recent travesty in Afghanistan.

Using this critical bill, Democratic leadership stuffed in a number of ‘woke’ provisions that have nothing to do with the defense of America, including:·

FPA’s Vice President of Strategy, Autumn Leva, exposed Pelosi’s House for the low view she has for the defense of America:

“Nancy Pelosi’s priorities for defending American families boil down to funding the largely illegal and bloated Big Pot industry, drafting our daughters into war, and carrying the banner for the woke LGBT agenda. It’s a sad commentary on the low value she places on our country’s defense. America deserves better. Our families deserve better. And our troops certainly deserve better.”

ICYMI: Family Policy Alliance’s CEO Craig DeRoche hosted Doreen Denny (from our friends at Concerned Women for America) to talk about Nancy Pelosi’s real war on women. In this latest episode of “Conversations with Craig,” they covered what’s really going on with forcing our daughters into the draft, Pelosi’s radical abortion bill, and more.

Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi are on a desperate mission to codify Roe v. Wade and spread unlimited abortion across the country. But Texas dared to defy their agenda by protecting babies in the womb with detectable heartbeats. In retaliation, Biden is now suing Texas, and Pelosi is advancing her own ‘Woke Health Protection Act,’ a bill that blasphemes women’s health.

Pelosi’s bill is a radical attempt to spread abortion and woke ideology. The bill would:

As if that weren’t bad enough, Speaker Pelosi fast-tracked her bill through the House process to bring it to the House floor for a full vote TOMORROW.

Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats continue to push a radical agenda that will dramatically damage election accuracy and integrity.

Their latest attempt was to hold a hearing on their latest version of an election takeover bill, HR 4. Democrats are pushing this legislation so fast that the bill had not been officially introduced before the House Judiciary Committee meeting last week. Meaning, members had not even seen the text before the markup hearing started! Nonetheless, Nancy Pelosi has declared, “When the House returns on August 23rd, Democrats plan to pass H.R. 4.”

HR 4 would dramatically damage election accuracy and integrity in the following ways:

The House plans to vote on HR 4 TOMORROWPlease take a minute today to urge your congress member to vote NO on HR 4!

With this legislation, liberal forces in Congress are attempting to undermine the integrity of our elections – and the ability of each citizen to engage in the political process of their own government.

Do you want your federal tax dollars to used promote abortion and to provide new grants to Planned Parenthood?

That’s what the U.S. House is considering this week, and we are urging all Americans who care about life to make your voice heard in Congress.

These pro-abortion maneuvers are part of a major appropriations bill that funds several departments, including Defense, Commerce, Education and Health & Human Services. It follows on the heels of another funding measure last week that weakened pro-life protections against abortion funding overseas. Despite all Republicans plus seven Democrats voting “no”, the Pelosi House passed that bill, sending it on to the Senate.

This week’s bill, H.R. 7617, goes even further:

It’s clear that the Democrat-controlled House is committed to undermining pro-life policies at every turn.  They have used the appropriations process to gut pro-life rules and roll back life-affirming executive orders.  While Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) clearly has a tight grip on the Democrat caucus, all Members of Congress need to hear from their constituents about the importance of protecting life in legislation.  It is true that the life issue is a mostly partisan one today, but it need not be that way forever.

As Rep. Chris Smith, chairman of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus, said during debate last week, “Someday, future generations of Americans will look back on us and wonder how and why a society that prided itself on its commitment to human rights precluded virtually all protection to the weakest and most vulnerable – unborn children.”

If you believe life should be protected in law by all lawmakers, will you contact your representative and ask him or her to vote against H.R. 7617 because of the many anti-life provisions it contains? It only takes a few moments on our Action Center.

Thanks for speaking up and spreading the word!

In 2020, it’s easy to look around and wonder—is there anything good happening??

I’m thankful that the answer is YES, and you have been a part of making these good things happen!

Let me count some of the things we are grateful for at Family Policy Alliance, and I hope you will join us in praising God for this good news! And remember, these wins came about despite COVID-19 and all the challenges it brought right in the middle of when state legislatures were supposed to be busiest.

  1. First, do no harm.

When we elect lawmakers to represent us and our values, the first thing we hope and expect of them is that when they get to our capitols, they first “do no harm.” In other words, please don’t mess things up.We know that politicians can often mess things up, but this year many states were able to block a lot of bills that would deeply harm the lives of children and families—in large part because believers and pro-family voices joined together to push back against these bad bills. For example, New Mexico was poised to pass a bill proposed by their governor and pro-abortion legislators that would codify abortion up to the moment of birth in state law. Believers of all denominations joined together in opposition. The bill’s defeat is widely celebrated as the greatest victory for New Mexico’s pro-life movement in modern history.

In Georgia, the casino lobby spent major resources to lobby for unprecedented gambling expansion the Peach State, yet pro-family conservatives rallied enough opposition that the bill was pulled at the last minute.

And, in Colorado where far Left activists have been having a field day with passing laws that are increasingly harmful to families, the state was set to pass the latest bill that would redefine what it means to be a “parent.” The bill would have, among other consequences, divorced child birth from parentage making the family entirely a creature of state contract law and encouraged the use of Artificial Reproduction Technology – in which many extra embryos are created and, in most cases, eventually killed – thus adding to the loss of babies in our state. A coalition of conservatives and believers rallied, and the bill was stopped.

  2. Saving girls’ sports!

As you probably know, girls’ athletics are under attack by activists who would sacrifice girls’ athletic opportunities on the altar of a political agenda so that boys (who identify themselves as girls) can compete in girls’ divisions and steal girls’ scholarships. The state of Idaho had enough, and they became the first state in the country to pass a law protecting girls’ sports!Way to go Idaho! Their new law is under attack in court by the ACLU, so much work remains to be done to save that law so that other states can follow Idaho’s lead. Join the fight to Save Girls’ Sports if you haven’t already! The other good news on the girls’ sports front is that the Trump Administration has repeatedly clarified that to permit boys to steal girls’ athletic opportunities would be a violation of Title IX, the civil rights law that ensures girls equal access to academic and athletic opportunities with boys. And, the Trump Administration has also sided with Idaho in protecting its new law!
  3. Stopping Planned Parenthood & Nancy Pelosi, saving livesAs the COVID situation began to unfold, Nancy Pelosi’s COVID relief plan included a billion-dollar funding stream with a provision that would have excluded the Hyde Amendment — which has protected against taxpayer funding of abortions for decades. Thanks to tens of thousands of you raising your voice and to the White House, her plan was stopped. Then, while Planned Parenthood was seeking out masks and gloves in the thick of the crisis, they (and the broader abortion lobby) attempted to skirt regulations meant to protect women on the chemical abortion pill. With your support, Family Policy Alliance rallied a coalition of national and state-based allies to stop the effort in its tracks. Now that battle will continue to be fought in courts.

Laws to save lives were also being advanced! In the midst of COVID, Family Policy Alliance of Wyoming helped shepherd a bill to protect babies who survive botched abortions. The bill passed all the way through the Wyoming legislature, even though Wyoming’s governor ultimately vetoed it. This fight isn’t over!

  4. Education freedom for families

In America, our legal system is built upon recognizing certain God-given freedoms—including the right of parents to direct their children’s care and education. But sometimes, financial limitations prevent parents from being able to fully realize that right.Thankfully, in the midst of the COVID crisis, two major things happened to advance education freedom for families. First, President Trump’s Administration issued a rule to ensure that COVID relief funding would serve all students—those in public and private schools.Second, the Supreme Court struck down what’s called a “Blaine Amendment,” an antiquated law that has been used to prevent faith-based schools from being part of a school choice programs simply because they are faith-based. The ruling was a win for parents, for religious freedom, and most importantly—for children. We believe that children win when their parents can choose the best education for each child, and that no government should place limitations on a child’s future because of her zip code or her family’s income.

We hope this list of wins to be thankful for encourages you as it does us—and these were only a small sample of the good things happening across the country this year! Your voice makes a difference. Your vote can change lives. Your support is invaluable.

And certainly the fight isn’t over. Because of COVID, many state legislatures were cut short. This means that many, many good policies that protect lives and families were also not able to advance.

That’s why Family Policy Alliance is already gearing up for both the 2020 election and for January 2021 when most state legislatures get back to work. The 2020 election is critical to ensure that we have the right lawmakers representing us and our values in every state—so that we can advance those good, pro-family policies in 2021.

As you can see, the policies that are passed by good lawmakers can truly save lives and create a better country for our children.

No one’s claiming that any politician or law can be our country’s savior—only Jesus Christ can fill that role, and it’s clear today that we all need His saving grace. But we do claim that God has placed each of us in this country at this time to represent His truth in our system of government.

That is our calling and that is our unique form of ministry at Family Policy Alliance.

As we prepare for November 2020 and the life-saving policies we seek to pass into law in 2021, will you consider a gift to Family Policy Alliance?

For truth & for His calling,

Autumn Leva
Vice President, Strategy

On Friday, the House of Representatives will vote on what would be the most expensive bill to ever pass the House, H.R. 6800.  Speaker Pelosi’s “Heroes Act” is marketed as a necessary response to COVID-19,  but conservatives – who refer to the bill as “Pelosi’s Social Wish List Act” – insist it has nothing to do with responsibly responding to the Coronavirus, but instead, propping up her liberal base.  With a price tag of $3 trillion, there are line items for hundreds of causes and special interests, but a couple got our attention in particular.

First, the bill excludes Hyde Amendment protections for furloughed employees’ COBRA insurance premiums.  That means there are no protections to ensure federal funds are not used to subsidize abortions.

Second, the “Heroes Act” provides federal banking privileges to marijuana businesses.  The bill would grant “safe harbor” to Big Marijuana for banking and investments despite the fact that it’s an illegal drug in America.

The bill includes several other non-germane, controversial items, including a mandate to collect “hate crimes” data, a “blanket release” for certain federal prisoners, an expansion of Obamacare through a “special enrollment period,” and several provisions to federalize elections.

Fiscal conservatives have a long list of concerns with the bill, chief among them the continuation of $600 unemployment insurance supplements through Jan. 31, 2021 at the earliest.  The bill would also make illegal immigrants eligible for direct stimulus payments and permanently disallow SNAP rulemaking pertaining to work requirements and eligibility.

It is not an overstatement to say the bill contains a laundry list of liberal policies.  Unfortunately, even in a time of national crisis, liberal forces are still very much at work to erode our freedoms and compromise our values.

The “Heroes Act” highlights the importance of legislative leadership.  While the House, led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), is poised to pass the bill on Friday, it is thankfully not expected to receive a vote in the Senate led by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).  However, concern exists that the bill will be used as a bargaining chip to get the Senate to vote on and pass something similar in the future.  For that reason and the poor merits of the bill, it is important that we let our voices be heard in Congress today!

Please send a message to your Member of Congress and ask that he or she vote NO on H.R. 6800.

Thanks for making your voice heard!

Autumn Leva
Vice President for Strategy

Dear Friends:

Just a week ago, we were celebrating some major wins in the Wyoming legislature where we were able to protect babies born alive and make sure that our tax dollars would not be used to fund abortions. Since then, the conversation has changed most dramatically. With constant talk of COVID-19 spreading across the planet, we have seen the extremes of human behavior in ways that boggle the mind. It is interesting what matters.

I find it fascinating what some people hold dear. The “Toilet Paper Crisis of 2020” will go down in the history books as one of the strangest cases of misplaced priorities in consumer history and sociologists will be studying it for years to come.

One of the more horrifying misplaced priorities is that of Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, trying to push her radical abortion agenda into an emergency funding bill aimed at helping citizens cope with health issues and unemployment insurance. Speaker Pelosi tried to amend the COVID-19 related legislation to remove the Hyde Amendment, which for decades has ensured that our tax money would not go to the killing of babies in the womb.

Thankfully, pro-life Congressional Leadership, like our own Liz Cheney, spotted this effort and worked hard to remove it from the bill. The exploitation of fear in this way is one of the most disturbing episodes in the sad history of those who believe that society has the right to kill its most vulnerable citizens.

Yet, Speaker Pelosi has continued her efforts and introduced a different bill that would accomplish her reprehensible objectives.

Even in the midst of this crisis, I am asking you to contact our Congressional delegation and encourage them to oppose any effort to allow taxpayer funding of abortions through the Speaker Pelosi’s exploitation of the COVID-19 crisis.

I thank you, our ministry partners, for engaging when asked to help. This means financially, through prayer, and through Action Alerts. This is your chance to engage through the latter. You can send this important message to our congressmen in seconds, through our Action Center.

All three of our members of Congress have been strong pro-life advocates in DC, ever since they were elected, for which we are extremely thankful. Let’s make sure they know this life vote also really matters to Wyomingites!

Sincerely,

Nathan Winters
Executive Director
