Rhode Islanders Are Rediscovering the Family

The family is the basic unit of society. There is no substitute for it. When families are healthy, society is healthy. In recent years, parents have abdicated their parental responsibilities by allowing the public school system to step in and play parent. But that seems to be changing given the woke brainwashing plaguing our schools.

North Kingstown Rhode Island has become the focal point in the debate of who has control over or children – the parents or the public school. It began with school boards introducing Critical Race Theory, a curriculum of Marxist ideology. But it hasn’t stopped there. Parents became aware that school libraries, and classrooms, were highlighting pornographic books promoting transgender and LGBTQ+ lifestyles with graphic images. Public and school libraries were once places where you wanted your children to spend time, but that is sadly no longer the case. You would be surprised by what your tax dollars are being used for.

The Office for Intellectual Freedom (OIF) of the American Library Association (ALA) posted this on their blog to help librarians stand against parental pushback: “Forget Tide Pods and cinnamon swallowing. The latest dangerous fad sweeping the nation is book challenges.” The OIF went on to give instruction on how to withstand challenges to young adult books like Lawn Boy and Gender Queer They acknowledged that most of these books were from an organization that claims, “We are loud. We are tenacious. We must be heard. We won’t be denied.” Read the article here.

The reality is that the character and values of children and young adults are being shaped in these formative years. Proverbs 22:6 is very clear: “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Could we be seeing a reviving of the ‘family’ in Rhode Island? Personally, I think it’s coming. Parents are waking up and putting their foot down to this woke indoctrination.

I have already begun working with legislators on policies that would stop schools from oversexualizing our children and teenagers with pornographic curriculum. The Family Policy Alliance’s Help Not Harm’ campaign has already been passed on to key legislators here in Rhode Island to prevent gender surgeries on minors. Our ‘Save Girls’ Sports’ legislation will be reintroduced this next legislative session too. Girls on sports teams need to know they are safe in showers and that their titles and scholarships will not be stolen by boys who pretend to be girls.

Good things are happening because of your prayers and your partnership. Please consider supporting us monthly so we can continue making an impact to preserve strong family values in Rhode Island. Last week, I was invited to speak to an adult Sunday School class in North Kingstown, and if your church or small group would like me to share, please let me know.
