Biden Administration Seeks to Force Insurers to Pay for Transgender Procedures

New Health and Human Services proposal would change Essential Health Benefit nondiscrimination requirements

Yesterday, Family Policy Alliance submitted a comment opposing a radical rule proposed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that will force healthcare plans to cover elective gender transition services.

Meridian Baldacci, Spokesperson for Family Policy Alliance, issued this statement:

“The first duty of medicine is to do no harm. Yet today, the Biden Administration is attempting to force through a policy of ‘must-do harm.’ By changing the Essential Health Benefit nondiscrimination requirements, this proposed rule could force insurers to fund deeply harmful ‘transition’ procedures.  One thing  is crystal clear: Anyone who believes they must alter their bodyoften irreparablyin order to be comfortable, is an individual who is deeply hurting and in need of help, not harm. The Department must immediately reverse course, rescind this rule, and do no harm – especially for the sake of our nation’s youth, who are often the victims of this radical agenda.”

The Department left less than 30 days for the public to comment on this aggressive proposed rule. If finalized, the rule comes at the high price of American tax dollars, conscience rights, and even the future of our youth.

The submitted comment can be read here.
